****** Brass Instrument Accompaniments Withdrawn from Sale ******

It is with regret that we have taken the decision to discontinue our accompaniments for brass instruments, namely Trumpet/Cornet, Tenor Horn, Euphonium/Baritone, and Trombone.

Over recent years we have seen a sharp decline in the number of CDs purchased for brass instruments, and we anticipate that with the introduction of the new Syllabus by ABRSM, along with the accompanying ABRSM publications, that this decline will continue.

We have therefore taken the decision not to invest in producing accompaniment CDs for brass instruments to cover the new Syllabus pieces for Grades 1 to 5. We have also decided to withdraw from sale the limited number of CDs produced to provide accompaniments for books widely used in previous Syllabus listings, e.g. 'Play Latin for Trumpet'

We would like to thank all of our brass instrument customers over recent years for supporting Pocket Pianist CDs produced by Oakland Music. We have received many positive comments about their use since their introduction in 1993.

It is our intention to continue to provide accompaniment CDs for woodwind instruments.

What's New

We now have a large selection of flute and clarinet accompaniments to download as mp3 files, including nearly all the List A and B pieces for Flute Grades 1 to 5, and Clarinet Grades 1 to 5 for the new 2008 & 2009 Syllabus. Each track can be purchased individually. You can also buy individual tracks for a number of different books (used across the grades/examination boards) and then compile them onto a 'favourites' CD using one of many available CD burning programs. Alternatively you can play them from your MP3 player.

Each downloaded mp3 file contains two recordings of the chosen piece. The first recording contains the solo instrument playing alongside the piano to allow students to get a good feel fro how the solo and accompaniment parts work together. The second recording contains just the piano accompaniment.

The tempo of each track has been carefully selected such that the essential character of the piece is maintained. The tempo is not necessarily, however, the tempo indicated on the music score, rather, the pieces are played at tempo which are considered to be more accessible to the beginner player, or student who is just starting to prepare for a graded examination.

You can now buy accompaniments for advanced grade (6-8) examination pieces as individual downloads; where appropriate these accompaniments will be offered at a number of different tempo so that students can progressively prepare for their examination. So far advanced grade pieces are restricted to Flute Grade 6 but there will be more to follow in the near future.

More tracks will be added over the coming weeks for other instruments.
